Default Digidesign this is UNACCEPTABLE performance

I have a HUGE session that I need to master for somebody which I cant now open due to PT suddenly not allowing me to open ANY session and causing an array errors such as an unexpected application error or an access violation error. 7 has now been out for long enough for you to have developed an update whereby it can open on ANY up to scratch PC - especially seeing as the previous versions run so well. My only option now is to send the files to a friend to open (hopefully) the session and save to a 6.x version format and retreat to that session. I have now tried reinstalling windows XP, PT, uninstalling EVERYTHING else on the system, disabled everything else such as audio cards and followed the 7 - tweaking post down to the last word and I still cant open it. I have a standard P4 with the 845 chipset, 1.5 gig of kingston RAM, an 80 gig boot drive, a 200 gig seagate barracuda drive. I have also spent the afternoon on the phone to your helpline which proved no use. I am not happy what can I do? I have a job resting on this? Please help me this is serious for me.

Are you getting any specific errors when opening that session? Can you see where Pro Tools is at in it's launch sequence when an error occurs?

Have you absolutely verified that all installed plug-ins are PT7 compatible?

Hi, I am only getting an access violation error after PT has finished loading. Occasionally I am able to get past this point and open up a session and it fully loads - then after the load box has finished and disappeared I get the general application error message which then forces me to quit PT before actually being able to do anything. All of my plugins are definately PT7 compatible.

I finally got the session open and decided to bnc it but when I tried to change my Digital source to ADAT in the hardware setup menu it totally skimped out again.

If you have Waves plugins, you must update them or they will stop PT7 in its tracks(bad pun). My version 7 install went fine and the first couple of sessions opened and played fine but by the 4th session, it started to lock up. I uninstalled Waves and everything else ran perfectly from then on. Re-installed Waves and ran the updater and have had no troubles since then.
