Exclamation Undesired Frequency... is there any filters for electric power?

I'm having a problem while recording with Protools. Sometimes while im recording, one strang sound (high frequêncy) gets in the microphone. It has something to do with the electric power, that bring harmonic frequencys. Do you guys know any filter that could prevent my microphone preamp to amplify that strang signal? Is there any other solution? Please help me if you can.

try using different mic cables. also check your monitor and usb/firewire cables.

other than that, if youre recording in the same room as your computer, it could be picking up fan noise. if youre using an old CRT monitor, it can cause interference.

if its a power problem, look into a power conditioner, and check the grounding in the building.

kinda hard to say for sure what it is, or exactly what to try without hearing the noise.

You probably don't want to use a filter unless the audio is already done and can't be re-recorded. I've tried to remove a 60 Hz hum that was repressive from a live event. Results were only tolerable.

I´m sure it is cause by electric interference, because i tried to turn off some engines (like the elevator or the water pump and it spoped. The electric engenier told me that must be some FM frequency that is amplified by the mic preamp. By how can i filter the electric power?

Do you have light dimmers on any of the room lighting? Dimmers (unless those made specifically for sound stage/theatre) are notoriously noisy

My voice boot ligths are leds. I've decided to use leds because of the noise. So shouldn't be the ligths... i guess.

I would venture they posters are right and it is your lights. If the problem went away when you turned off motors, then you really need to get a seperate breaker or power system installed. Pro Studios usually have a seperate system where the Orange wall outlets are studio gear only and the regular are for everything else.

You can do what I did and buy a monster power center. I have the pro 7000 and it specifically filters for clean power. Works great for me.
