Default Shared Library Error - on OS 10.4.9

Mac G4, 733 mhz PPC, 1.12 GM SDRAM,

Tiger 10.4.9, PT LE 6.9.2, upgraded from PT LE 6.9

MBox

I reinstalled OS X 10.4.9 on my G4 recently.I did not have any problems with pro tools before, but after I reinstalled the OS and protools, I got this error when I tried to start PT:

The application "Pro Tools LE 6.9.2" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "4<Pro Tools PPC dbg><Pro Tools PPC dbg><DAE><FreeFic>"

I was not able to fix the problem except by reinstalling the OS. After I did that, it worked fine. But as soon as I install another program that uses the same copy protection software, I get the error I mentioned above. I have followed the instructions on the Answerbase for erasing certain files and reinstalling PT, but it doesn't fix the problem. The only thing that has worked is reinstalling the OS. Why is this happening? What should I do?

You should do a clean uninstall of Pro Tools - run the Pro Tools installer for 6.9.2 and, when you get to the 'Custom Install' page, click on the word Custom Install and select Uninstall from the drop-down menu. When prompted, do a 'Clean' uninstall, then restart and reinstall.

This is exactly what I did and have done many times, but I get the same error. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the PACE software, I have deleted the database files, I have deleted all the related files from home/library/preferences. I have repaired permissions, nothing seems to help except reinstalling the OS, but then once I install any other software with the PACE protection, I get the error again. I actually wrote to someone before about it, but the thread got too old. The Subject was "Shared Library Error PT LE 6.9.2 on Tiger"

I think you should give an EXACT step by step of what you're doing - obviously there's something in that process that's going awry and knowing what you're doing will help narrow down where the problem is occurring.

Did you ever have any other version of Pro Tools installed on this computer?

Ok, this could get a bit tedious.

First, do you have an installer/uninstaller for 6.7? If so, you should do a clean uninstall of ALL versions of Pro Tools that you've ever had installed, restart and reinstall.

If that work - you're good to go.

If not, let me know and I'll collect all the info necessary to help you remove all components manually.

I ran the a clean uninstall from the 6.7 and 6.0 cds and the same problem occurred. I don't know if there were any downloaded updates I forgot about.

I was not having any problems until I decided to reinstall OS X and reformat the disk. When I put everything back, I put PT on first, and It worked fine. Then, I installed the core audio driver and the problem started. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I could only get PT to work after I reinstalled OS X and reformatted the disk. Another time when I reformatted and had PT working, I installed other software called MAX/MSP, which also has the PACE protection software. Immediately after I installed it, PT got the Shared LIbrary Error. Also There are times when during installing PT, I get this message:

An item in the Startup Items folder ("LIbrary/Startup/Items/PACESupport") does not have the proper security settings.

there are choices: decide later, disable, fix.

It happened when I installed this last time, and this time, I chose FIx. Other times I have chosen the other two.
