Transferring iLok assets?

Hi all -

I'm considering selling my HD3 Accel rig that's PCI-X. I have only one iLok, but I'll need to purchase a second so that I can transfer the assets that I want to keep and keep the original iLok with the rig.

How does this work? If I remember correctly, there's a $25 transfer fee. Is this for each asset or can I pay $25 once and transfer a bunch of assets at once?

Hi,

If you buy a new Ilok and register it to your account then there's no charge for transferring auths between ilok on your account!

If you transfer all the auths you want to sell with the rig onto a new ilok registered to your account! i "think" you get a 7 day period when this ilok can be re-registered to a new owner. but check at ilok.com or someone will know for sure.

Otherwise you can give them the ilok registered to your account, and they won't be able to sync it at ilok and do all the stuff like sell or updates etc.

Only other way is to send the auths individually to the new owner at $25 each.

Ok.. so it looks like I can move between my own iLoks all I want for free. Transferring a single asset to another user's account is $25, each asset.

Here's what I can't tell. What if I'm going to give up an iLok and all it's assets? Is there a way to keep the assets registered to the iLok, but transfer the whole iLok to another users account?

I.e. if I get another iLok, I can transfer everything I want to keep to the new iLok for free. Then, I'd like to transfer the whole other iLok to the new buyer. I *think* that's what happened when I purchased this particular rig in the first place. I just can't tell how to do that myself.

I think you have to do it the other way around! transfer the auths you are giving to the new buyer onto a brand new ilok, which has to be registered to your account, then i think you get 7 days with a brand new ilok to re-register to another users account. But i have to say i'm not 100% sure of this, so check with ilok.

Of course there are some plugins you can't transfer! without some hassle!! DUY/Sony/Waves

This from iLok support. We have 2 facilities that have 2 accounts and I wanted to know how to consolidate all the licenses to the same account.....



If you wish to consolidate iLoks and iLok.com user accounts, the following
options are available to you.

1) You may transfer the licenses from one iLok account to the other using
iLok.com's "Transfer Licenses" feature. The fee for transferring a license to
another iLok.com user account is $US25.00 per license.

2) Register a brand new iLok to the source iLok.com user account and use
the Move Licenses utility to move all the licenses to this iLok. Moving
licenses between iLoks within the same user account is free. Once moved to the
new iLok, you can then remove the iLok from the source account and register it
to the destination account. From here you can distribute the licenses as you
please. Please note that the remove feature on iLoks containing licenses is
only available within the first 7 days of an iLok being registered on
iLok.com. IMPORTANT: Some software vendors require their approval before an
iLok containing licenses for their software can be removed from your account.
You should check with the software vendors to make sure your removal request
will be approved before purchasing an iLok for this purpose.

3) Depending on the limitations on the transference of licenses on the
iLok, have us perform a "iLok Transfer: Account Reassignment" which will allow
us to transfer an entire iLok with all of its licenses from one user account
to another. As there is much work involved in doing this on our end, the
price to transfer an iLok is $US100.00. If you choose this option, please let
us know as there is further information we will need to provide you.

4) If the iLok in question is blank, contains demo licenses only, or is
still within its one-week grace period it can be removed from an account via
the "Remove" link to the right of the iLok's listing. Again, some of your
licenses may require the approval of the software vendor prior to the removal
request going through.

If I'm reading #2 in the above post, I can "remove" the new iLok from my account. Then, I'm assuming (it doesn't really say) that I can register the iLok with the new account, right?
