PT6 & footswitch

Does anybody know if in PT6 you will be able to use a footswitch to start/stop playback? I know you can use it to punch-in but it would be nice if you could use it to start/stop playback. I want to record enable tracks then hit the record button and then go into the studio and when I'm ready hit the footswitch to start playback. I have read where this can be done with a midi footswitch but it sounds like a pain to set up.
