I don't think you can do it with what you have, but there are still some options:
1-To the best of my knowledge, the control app only runs on iOS(iPad, iPhone) or Android.
2-for connections, get a wifi router(dual band are preferred) and connect the iPad/tablet to wifi and run a cat5 cable to the ethernet port on the Mac Pro.
3-Install Eucon on the Mac and go into Pro Tools>Setup>Peripherals and check the box to enable Eucon.
4-there is probably a way to use the MBP with some form of desktop sharing, but I know little about Macs, so hopefully, someone else can offer insight on how to make that work.
5-depending on how far away you need control, you might also get away with a long USB cable to a spare keyboard and mouse. Then you could use a splitter to feed another screen(if you can use an HDMI connection, a 30' HDMI cable can be had for less than $50(I did this on a PC setup with a 50' USB extension to a small keyboard with a track pad and had the keyboard on a rolling cart with a monitor bolted to the top. It would just reach into all 4 of my recording spaces and worked perfectly(make sure the screens on the splitter run the same resolution). I ran a DVI to HDMI cable to the splitter(which was active and cost all of $35)

It’s a touch interface. There’s no way or reason to run it on a laptop.

macOS has built-in screen sharing. I use it frequently to control Pro Tools from a laptop. Works fine if you have a decent bandwidth network.

EDIT: this is NOT using the Avid Control app, which I also use, but which isn't particularly convenient for playlist management, etc. when tracking.

+1

I do this all the time to be able to record in different rooms in the house and still control the PT HD rig in the basement.

No, all wireless over wifi.
It’s just a screen share so it’s pretty fast with not much latency.
