Pro Tools and 01v...

I've a Yamaha01v and I usually use it as a control surface
with Nuendo, Cubase SX, Emagic Logic etc etc.
Now I need to use it with protools... I know the procedure to
do this but it work bad.
I've link 01v to PC with a midi-->USB cable... Is it possible that the problem is this?
Maybe Should I link 01v to my ProTools Digi002rack with a simple midi cable?
