C|24 Pro Tools version support

I've had a couple of emails indicating new posts to this thread but when I visit, there's no new posts....

There is one deleted post, maybe you don't see it.

Anyway it seems C24 only has Intel drivers on 2022.12 and while it may not mean anything (because Apple Silicon is beta and features are missing) it could also indicate there will not be Apple Silicon driver for it. Only the first supported version will tell how it is.

The info with the beta press release stated -
"Note that while most of these issues will be addressed by the upcoming, fully-qualified release, users will not be able to run ICON, C24, and Command 8 control surfaces natively on Apple silicon. Although these control surfaces have been out of support for several years now and are no longer tested, they should continue to work as before when running under Rosetta 2."

Thanks! Actually it was my Safari being weird. I didn't even see my own post when I refreshed... deleting the cache and re-launching fixed that.

I'm relieved that there's C|24 support in '22.12, at least for intel. I love my C|24. Even if I could afford to replace it, I'd miss the monitor matrix, cue and talkback section. I use every feature of that section, and I recently bought a used monitor board as a spare. I'm even thinking about buying a complete C|24 to split for parts. (There are several around for not much money, with no power supplies.)

I've learned that Neyrinck is working on a driver for the C|24

This will enable the C|24 in ProTools with Ventura on M1/M2 Macs.

That is indeed good news. I recall having a conversation with them about 6 months ago, when they said they would consider it 'when the time came'. The question will obviously be how close they can get to button-for-button compatibility. Weirdly perhaps, I use the various buttons etc probably more than I do the faders!

UPDATE !


Today I got this message :

We have already released and update that includes support for the Apple Silicon systems with C|24 and the latest Pro tools. You can test it out with a trial license and downloading the latest installer. Here is a list of the functions available:

Please note that we use the HUI protocol to communicate with Pro Tools so there are some limitations and differences. Thank you.

2023.3 release notes say the C|24 is no longer supported. But maybe the C|24 driver still exists in the INTEL install of 2023.3, the same way the Command|8 driver persisted for so long after support ended.

I might back up my boot drive, install 23.3, see if the C|24 pops up and if it doesn't, restore the drive.

Unless somebody can definitively answer the question for me?
