I know I should be able to find this out for myself but I've tried the Avid site and here, and come up short.
I'm trying to find out if Pro Tools (Ultimate) 2021 will still support the C|24 natively i.e. without requiring the Neynrick stuff? It still works with my Command|8, which is an even older product, but of course that's MIDI, not ethernet. Why? I'm tempted to buy one - and I mean the C|24, not the CONTROL 24. WIthout actually having one on the network, I can't see if my Pro Tools would recognise it. And I do know that even if it does work now, it will stop working sooner or later.

Hey Justin,
Don't own one personally but... since nobody has replied yet, PT Ultimate 2021.10 still has the C24 bundle in it so you should be good to go. Cheers, Pete |

What's the 'C24 bundle'? If I'd known about that I might have been able to answer my question for myself. By the way, I didn't start thinking about a C|24 because of the faders. I got there because I had been thinking - I really wish I had a more capable monitor matrix - I ought to upgrade my home-made talkback system - wouldn't it be cool to have a monitor matrix that supported surround - I really wish I had a little utility line mixer I could plug all my stereo sources into - it would be nice to have a few spare basic mic pres for emergencies and then I realised the C|24 does all of that! The fly in the ointment that's giving me pause at the moment is how much I've realised it's going to cost to fully cable the thing if I do it properly.

DigiDesign Command24 is discontinued and only works up to PT10
Avid C|24 last sale date was 31-DEC-2017 which means end of support will be 31-DEC 2022

Thanks, Janne.
So from this I infer that any Pro Tools version released before 31/12/2022 will have C|24 support, and any release after that date will not? (at which point, if I buy one, I'd have to decide to freeze my version, dump the C|24, or hope that Neynrick step in.)

Not supported is not equal to not working. The old DigiDesign branded one did not get 64bit drivers, which is why it is absolutely limited to PT10 or lower. But if this newer Avid C|24 works well on 31-DEC-2022 then Pt software should need to change pretty radically to break it. But sure, after that date it is a guesswork when it gets bricked.

No problem. On my live rig I have an Avid C|24 controller for FOH and DigiDesign C|8 for monitor sends, so I am very interested about support and when they stop working.

Well, I bought one.
I haven't been able to check through the analogue section yet (still waiting for the lorry-load of DB25 looms to arrive) but yes, it works fine with Pro Tools Ultimate 2021.12, and Pro Tools updated the firmware when I connected it. The unit I chose comes from a private studio, was cared for, and literally looks new even though it's nearly 14 years old. It cost GBP 1,800.
