I sure the cam operators on "Catch" don't appreciate having to do audio.
I'm not buying the "It's too dangerous to have an audio person on board" quote... I think producers cheaped out and hired just one audio supervisor, which wasn't either one of you.
1 good channel of wireless and 1 good shotgun probably cost more than the camera.

I would have to agree that it is too dangerous to have an audio person. I am sure it is bad enough for the camera ops to deal with the conditions, let alone if they had to be tethered to an audio guy via cables from a mixer to the camera.
In close quarters like that a good shotgun mounted on camera into 1 ch. and a lav into the second is about the best you can hope for.

There was a special episode of Catch is they showed the survival training and conditions that shooting crews were subject to

Personally I liked how they dumped the tapes overboard for the chase boat to pick them up and take them back to the dock.

Good reading and very informative. Thanks for the post. This is a must read for all producers. Now if we could get them to listen to us as well I could start to cut back on the stress medication!

Cheers, Nick
