001 PCI bus overload and 9094 6045 6042 errors
Hey. I've been trying to get my 001 working for a while now. I'm running XP Pro SP2 on an athlon xp2500+ with an nforce2 board. 512 meg XMS pro. The 001 is the only card on a pci slot, but the POST says the display adapter and network card are on pci busses too, though on different bus #s. The SI 3112 sata raid controller is on the same bus as the 001 though, but I don't think any irqs are shared. I tried every slot, and they are all on the same port. I can't find anywhere to enable bus mastering either, I thought that might help, and no way to disable write caching either, that option is greyed out. I even upped the pci latency timer in the bios, and that does no good. Just sitting there with 8 tracks armed the pci meter goes way up in the system usage meter bridge. They don't even have to be armed. I recently totally defragged the audio and system drives, and they are both on different channels. One PATA, one SATA. Aside from this my system runs super great. I hit record, and if it starts at all it stops a few seconds later, usually with an error like 6045 6042 9094. Mostly 6045. I shut down all other processes, I have very minimal services running, I changed the playback buffer settings back and forth. This happens when installed in the 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.4cs9 versions. Can anyone please help? Thanks so much!

Next I would unhook your second drive and try recording to the system drive to see if you can reproduce the same problem. If that doesn't work then it isn't your hard drive. I will let you know that there are some issues with this motherboard and the 001. 002 users seem to be immune to them. Before you throw your system out the window, I'd try a different motherboard that is more compatible like the A7V600. Hope the DEP fix or SP1 helps you out here. Allen |

Hey, I was looking at my irqs and my 001 and my agp video card are both on the same irq. Could this be a problem?

Yes... that could be a problem.
Avoid using the first PCI slot under the AGP. I would remove the 001 card completely, boot and shutdown your computer. Reinstall 001 in the second or third slot. Boot then check your IRQ's. |

Re: 001 PCI bus overload and 9094 6045 6042 errors
Yeah, that seemed to do it! Just found a slot with a free irq nothing was using. I thought irq steering or something was supposed to fix that though. The PCI meter is still peaked out though. When I change buffer sizes back and forth the pci meter goes up and down, with no apparrent relation to the buffer size or to performance. It will go down, and then after recording a bit it peaks out again, but still runs fine. What's with that? What's making it go so high? Is there a way to fix this? I can't even see the cpu meter go yellow at all during tracking. Everything is DMA enabled, but I can't find an option to enable bus mastering. Is this automatic? Any help in lowering the pci meter would put my mind at eases, even though all seems to be working well now. Does anyone else have this much level on their PCI meter? OK, thanks again!
