Default MBox 2 Mini w/ Garageband w/ Snow Leopard?

Our church is considering the purchase of a new Mac Mini. (We only record one channel at a time and I was thinking about using Garageband since it is easier for non-PTLE people to use). I realize that Snow Leopard is not supported for use with PTLE software but what about just using the MBox 2 Mini hardware to connect to Garageband? (I have read something about core audio having to be supported also but was hoping to clarify this before we purchase the Mac Mini)

Thanks!

PTLE 7.1
MBox 2 Mini
(Planning on buying a Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo)

There are much cheaper routes to go if you just want to use Garageband. You are really paying for the Mbox 2 Mini AND Pro Tools. Why not just get something from M-Audio?

Getz,

I think he already has the Mbox; he is just asking about compatibility of the interface with snow leopard.

This is a good question, as I am also considering a Mac Mini purchase and will need to wait for the Snow Leopard update for PT8. (In Windows land here.) Can I still use my Mbox as an audio interface for other mac-based audio programs running in snow leopard (i.e. garage band, logic, etc...)?

Yes, I do already have it. Since we only record one mono track and don't take advantage of most of the PTLE features I don't want to upgrade to PT 8. But maybe since I need to upgrade even to use the Mbox 2 mini with Garageband for use with Snow Leopard?

I guess I could sell the MBox 2 mini and just use the 1/8 inch line input on the mac mini.

What about just using the standalone Core Audio Driver w/ GarageBand? Here's a link for the Leopard Driver:

Who knows it might work for Snow Leopard. Hope this helps in some way bud!

As usual... I wouldn't invest in anything until Snow Leopard is officially qualified for Pro Tools. This includes all hardware, and software. (Yes, even Core Audio)

It's not to say that it WON'T work, but if it doesn't, there might not be a work around until there is official compatibility.

Anything Digidesign + Snow Leopard = Use at own risk.
