Default Separate interface for multi-tracking

I currently own an mbox and I'm looking to get another interface(8in or more) so that I can get multiple tracks down with another software and then mix 'em down in pro tools. Anybody have a suggestion for an interface that comes with a software or an interface and separate basic software? Thanks.

Well i was thinking more along the line of firewire interface, but not 002(too expensive). Besides do they even sell 001 anymore?

$ Cubase SX + $ interface = $ 002R + PTLE = Many valuable plug-ins

For a separte software, if the interface doesn't come with one, I'm just looking to get it down onto the harddrive, nothing more. So I was thinking something like Home Studio 2004 or Cubase SE(around $100), altough I'm not sure if they support recording 8 or more tracks at a time.

I thought about your suggestion of getting 001 for my need and it seems like a better and better suggestions as the e-bay prices keep coming down. Only concern I have is about the installation on a computer that already has ProTools(6.1.1) on it from the mbox installation. Can I just have the windows hardware wizard find the driver from the 001 installation cd and not have it install another version of ProTools? Will ProTools 6.1.1 recognize 001 if I install it this way? Thanks.

Keep in mind that support for the 001's days are numbered.

Well, that's true but how much longer do you think they'll support mbox?

200.00 for the cards.You can plug in up to 12 inputs at once with this if you have an adat multi mic pre.Awesome converters!
I am thinking about getting this to hold me over till I can afford my 002 rack.
No takers on the 001(its up for sale.
I will use my behrenger mic pre with my sonar 2.0
Dont get me wrong I would never leave protools!!
