The first thing I'd try is reformatting all of your drives and reinstalling your system and programs...

OK. DON'T DO THAT!

I still think we need more information. I read another one of your posts and didn't know what to say about that problem either. Relax. We all started out not knowing anything about the system.

Do you know where the cursor is?

If you don' t press return. That will return the cursor to the start of the file.

Maybe your screen just isn't parked where the cursor is playing. You can go to the options menu and select a scroll option that is better for you. I'm thinking you have "no auto scrolling" selected, and you probably have "timeline follows insertion point" selected in your preferences. That makes Pro Tools operate like a tape deck, so the space bar plays, then stops, then resumes play where it left off and there's probably no music there.

If you want to zoom out farther to see more in the edit window, press <apple and r>. If you want to se the whole session, double click on the little magnafying glass at the top left of the screen.

Try those things and check back.

Hopefully, the guys from Matchbox 20 aren't waiting for you to record them...

The little clock in the lefthand of the transport window isn't flashing blue by any chance is it?

Oona, more info in your questions would make them easier to answer.

Cheers

In the Transport Window.. is Transport=Pro Tools? In the Session Setup Window, is clock set to Internal? Is the timeline and edit window linked?

and one more..
If you clik on the play button in the transport window, will it play?
If not, then the problem is not the space bar.
from there, follow Rails suggestions.

This was an answer to an issue that just popped up for me! Thanks. I must've fat-fingered something to engage the preference, because I didn't change anything in the actual preference menu...

I had a very irritating session with a client last night due to this one!

Thanks again!
