This is a weird one for me. I already tried the D-Verb test was able to barely pass it with 32 tracks and 32 dverbs. The more I added the more the system became unstable etc....
Here's the conundrum... When I had 16 tracks with 50 dverbs it played for 1:09 and a black screen popped up and said I needed to restart my computer. Well I did, and I understand that I pushed it's limits there. Tonight, I had only 3 tracks going for 3:30 secs with no plugs and was trying different ways to track my buddie's parts. Everything seemed fine. I had PT running but not tracking off and on for about 3 and a half hours or so when it finally crashed into the black "restart your computer" screen. Is this normal for PT to do that for that amount of time being open? Or what could possibly make it do that? Anyways.... Thanks in advance for any ideas! -Doug

Kernel Panic suggests a serious hardware or software issue. I've only seen one on my rig, and that was due to incompatible hardware experimentation.

I have seen that dreaded screen only one time in 3 years of using my dual G5 and I forget what I was doing, but it was way beyond normal use...it may not even have happened with PT running.
That is not normal with PT or any program. I have run PTLE 7.3 for 8-12 hours many times with no errors. If I'm switching between apps (like Logic and PT), I usually reboot just to make sure the memory is clean. If you have AppleCare, now would be a good time to make a call and get their feedback.

Don't worry too much about it. Just force quite and go though the troubleshooting tips one by one (incl re-installing PT's - run DU etc.) All programs freak sometimes and need some TLC.

P.S. check the power supply also, make sure there's no spikes in the power or bad wavers.
