Default Master Fader defaults to Bus 1-2?

So I have been having this issue for a while now. Whenever I create a master fader, the default output is set to bus 1-2, instead of my main outputs. I'm on PT 9.0.6 on a Mac.

Not at my rig, but can't you set the default outputs on the Output tab of the IO screen?

Seen this on my Windows rig as well. It seems to be sporadic at best. When it defaults to a bus, it usually picks the last bus I enabled within a session. Then, yesterday, it was flawless all day.....go figure

Setup>I/O>Output Tab set 'audition Path' and Main output to main out L/R.

Or as DerFunk said, hit default button and it should do the same.

If you have renamed your I/O paths (which is a good idea), export your settings. You can then import them back in if they are changed for some unexplained reason.

This was done and redone with no improvement here. Some days its fine, and other days, its not. on the good side, it seems to be okay with newer sessions(trashed Prefs more than once too).

What's the problem? There's always a Master Fader for each output, whether you have set it visible or not. Just change the buss to what you need and be done with it. Master Faders do not consume extra processing power, they're built in to the mixer. Learn to use (get full benefit from) them..?

I can't see where anyone is mentioning anything about processing power so not sure where you're coming from (apart from Finland )

No, I did bring ig up first. Why? Generally it would be useful to have all master faders visible. All outputs your mixer has have invisible master faders so as soon as you route a new output you could also set its master fader visible. Sends also have master faders, which are sometimes very useful.

So I fail to see why it's a problem that a new MF track defaults to some output... it doesn't matter, jsut change it to what you want.

Default Re: Master Fader defaults to Bus 1-2?

One Thing You Must Do In This Situation, Depending On The "Master Fader Output" You Choose/Use, You Must Assign All Of Your Track's To That Output, Track's Not Assigned To The Master Fader, Will Not Be Included In Your Final "Mix" Bounce, The "Default" Master Fader Assignment Can Be Confusing/Frustrating, Make Sure You Dump All Of Your "Previous" Master Buss Assignments, Before You Start Your Session Input. It's Easy To Miss...

Basically, (If, You Use More Than One Recording Interface With The Same Computer Or, You Go Back In Time To A Session Created With Different Buss Names) Protools Keeps Previous Buss Assignments In Your I/O Set Up, Unless You Go In And Remove Them, "Fake" Duplicate Outputs Can Be Assigned By Default... Confused Much? It's A Continual Annoyance For Me, But What Are You Gonna Do?

All Of The Previous, Applies To Mix Bounces While Within Protools. If Your Outputting To A Console, Well, It's Another Set Of Rules...
