Default Group Playlist Question

Is there a way to create playlist grouping for tracks where playlist groups were not present during recording? IOW, is there a way to retroactively create a group where all the members consistently and accurately follow playlist changes?

Thanks.

Create new playlists while grouped and copy the regions from the non grouped playlists to them... I believe that may be the only way to do them... how many playlists are you dealing with?

Hehe... I was hoping you (Rail) would chime in on this. I’m pretty much a believer in; If there is an operation for it in Pro Tools, Rail will know.

I got a session where ALL the drums (14) tracks are playlisted. Problem is, for each take, (many), the operator changed each track's playlist individually. There was no group created for the drums before tracking therefore no playlist group. All the naming conventions are there but trying to create playlist groups retroactively has not worked. This is NOT the first time I have seen this kind of operator error. I ended up doing the same thing you suggested; create and group a new set of tracks, then copy the audio to my new group. After that, all the playlist switching works fine.

A couple of other things I tried yielded inconsistent results. This definitely falls into the category of operator error, (spelled B O N E H E A D). I wonder how difficult this would be for Digi to help out with in a future release?

Is there anything in import session data that would make this faster or easier?

Thanks.

I don't think so.. sorry.

I can't believe the operator would sit there and switch 14 tracks individually to create a new playlist.. damn.
