Default Buying Studio Monitors

I wanted to get some opinions on what to buy (or not to buy) as far as studio monitors go. I want a decent pair that are fairly small. I will just be using them for getting a good mix, I'm not going to be mastering on them (hopefully). They will be going in a 25x25 foot room. There are alot of choices on the market for $200 - $300, I really don't want to go over $300. Thanks ahead of time!

Barry

You won't get much for $300 and you certainly will not fill the room with sound though it should be okay for you at your mix position. Monitors are a critical piece in your recording chain, but assuming you can't afford better, Tapco S-5, KRK Rokit 5 and Behringer B2030A are the best for the money. I own the KRK's, but the others seem about equal.

M-Audio BX5 are a pretty good low end near-field as well, add a sub later if you want. Good luck.

i know you dont want to go over 300, but the Alesis M1MkII's are a great buy and many would agree to save up for another little while. Monitors are definitely a very important part of the chain.

whew... I was hoping you would like those. I love my M1MK2s. Save the extra $50/$100 and buy them - its worth the extra money.
