Default HDX for feature film work

Hello to all,

I would really appreciate feedbacks from power users who are working on feature film with an HDX 2 or HDX 3 system. Most of you are using multiple PT systems but since the new HDX card release, is there anybody mixing and printing stems on a single PT system with very large track count? Would you mind sharing how many tracks you are able to run? With the new disk cache feature, how many drive do you use? How do you deal with the 32 bit memory problem and what is your experience so far?

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experiences.

You should ask this in the "Post and Surround" section.

I guess you 're right. The questions is HDX and post related but I should have posted there first.

Thanks.

We just finished a Feature Film. Chris Jacobson who mixes SFX, Sound Design and Foley with me is on a HDX 2. His track count was up near 400 tracks.
It worked well. We mix from an internal drive on each system. NO EXTERNAL DRIVES! I can understand people waiting until there is more DSP plug ins. We have 4 systems, the HDX2, 2 HD6 Accel and 1 HD1 stem recorder/satellite link Video. We haven't been recording directly to the HDX2,
but we could of. I hope this helps answer your question.

Just curious...when you guys have a session that big...400 tracks...are all those tracks coming off ONE internal SATA drive??

Thanks
Tom
