help with reinstallation up to 8.05 pt le

my computer crashed and unfortunately i'm having to reinstall a whole mess of things.

with protools, i started with 8.05, but it said i needed an earlier one, so i downloaded 8.03. now it says i need 8 but i can't find it in the download area. everything but 8.0??!!

i also tried to find drivers for my 002 rack but it appears that they are enclosed with pt8 that i can't find. what a mess. it is almost worth it to pay the huge sum to upgrade just so i don't have to go thru this as i've already had a mess with reason and ableton as well as other 3rd party programs!

8.05 is the last available update for Pro Tools 8 LE. You need the full installer before installing the update. If you have a valid license, then you should be able to login at the Avid website and download the installer, along with the serial number that goes with it.

raniere: thanks for the info. problem is, i cannot find 8.0. i can find 8.05, 8.03 and 7 but no 8.0!

any further suggestions?

I think there's some confusion here. You need two things:

1. Full Pro Tools 8 LE installer, only available for licensed customers. Contact Avid with your license info or login and locate your licensed installer and serial number
2. Latest update. Freely available for download. In this case the 8.05 update.

Without the full installer, there is nothing to update.

As Rainiere said, you need a valid PT8 license in order to update your system to 8.0.5 and as PT8 is not an ilok license you might not find it in your account. Should you need that on a disc I believe Avid sells that for 15USD if you can't find your own CD.

Post back if you need any further assistance, Avid doesn't keep full installers that far back on all the versions.
