Structure not letting drag samples

Couple things... Isn't Structure made by AIR, not Avid? And are you sure the removal was purposeful, and not a constraint of the format?

Yes Structure is made by AIR, but this problem does not have to do with the code of Structure, or Kontakt or the actual VI's, it's a limitation of the AAX plugin format.

I recall when AAX came out someone pointed out that drag and drop was gone, and an Avid rep stated that they had removed it from the AAX format because they didn't think it was needed or that anyone used it.

So this is a problem that Avid need to fix, not the plugin manufacturers.

I recall something different, in that the only reason it worked in RTAS was because of a kludge that couldn't be reproduced in AAX.

Correct...at least that's what they told us in public. Avid also mentioned it was to come back at some point.

I took it that it possibly could come back, not specifically that it would. As I remember, they mentioned that support for drag n drop could be added to the SDK, but they had no specific plans to unless there was a big enough demand.

In the meantime guys I have found a workaround as suggested above:

1. find the sample in workspace
2. right-click and select "Reveal In Finder"
3. drag and drop from finder window into structure or other plugin - I have just been doing this with NI Battery.

I wasn't aware before that you could actually drag and drop from the finder into plugins so thank you for that! I must say it seems odd though that you can drag and drop from the finder but not from within protools itself, why on earth would they not allow that?

Does anyone know if this "function" has been added to the AAX-SDK? Last I read was three years ago at PTE
