HELP! Yamaha Motif 8 + Pro Tools 7.0 MIDI

Layman Problem: I can only get one track of MIDI playback in Pro Tools at one time.

I need to be able to playback 16 channels of MIDI through Pro Tools using my Yamaha Motif 8.

Here is what's happening:

Setup -- MIDI -- MIDI Studio -- Motif 6-7-8 -- The default "Transmits Channels" underneath it says (max 1).

Shouldn't the max channels be 16? I can't seem to enable all channels of MIDI.

I'm using MIDIMAN 1x1 to connect the keyboard (DIN) to the computer (via USB).


Please help!!! This has caused hours of frustration!!!!

The Motif should be able to Receive 16 channels of MIDI, perhaps not Transmit 16 channels of MIDI.

If you want to hear 16 channels/tracks of MIDI, make sure the Motif is set to receive 16 channels.

There is a Multi-Timbral mode in the Motif to enable you to assign sounds to all 16 channels.

Then in PT create 16 MIDI tracks, assign the outputs to channels 1 to 16 of the Motif With all 16 tracks selected do shift-option-command click to assign the outs and they will all be assigned in order).
