Using Mbox 2 with a second Mac?

I didn't really want to post a thread about this on the DUC but I looked all over the Avid/Digidesign site and did not find an answer to this question. I also submitted a request to support without hearing back.

I have been using my Mbox 2 with my iMac G5 since 2006 (I'm presently running Tiger 10.4.11 and the highest version of LE 7.3). This week I got a MacBook Pro. I intend to keep using the G5 but I'd love to ALSO be able to use the MacBook Pro for audio.

The question is how I can do that without purchasing an (unnecessary) second Mbox 2. I'm certainly willing to buy PT LE 8 and install it on the MacBook Pro if that will accomplish that.

Is it possible to purchase a standalone copy of PT LE that I can install on my MacBook Pro that would allow me to use my Mbox 2 with it? If so, can someone offer me a link to the product location on the Avid store site for that? All I see is an upgrade to 8.0.3. Can I install my original 6.8 and then upgrade from there to 8.0.3? (And if I do, do I have to worry that that will somehow affect the authorization of Pro Tools on my G5?

yeah install it on your macbook the upgrade to 8(purchase) and you will be able to use it on both macs...(the mbox) mbox 1 doesnt work on snow leopard and pro tools 8

Do I have to install the PT LE 6.8 first or can I just purchase the PT 8 and install that?

The PTLE 8 installer is a complete installer. In fact I believe Digi recommends you uninstalling previous versions before installing 8.0. So no need to install 6.8.
