Default Reason, Live not showing up under Instruments

I have Pro Tools LE 7.1cs8. I'm running it through an Mbox 2 on an iMac G5. I finally got a MIDI keyboard controller (Edirol PCR-M50) so I could take advantage of the sequencer and soft synth capabilities of my recording software. (I also use Logic Express.)

(I'm basically a rock player--guitar and vocals--and MIDI seems a mystery. But one can learn, I suppose. Any suggestions on Mac-friendly books on learning to understand MIDI?)

At any rate, I wanted to record a test song today to get the keyboard up and running with Pro Tools. While I was able to find and use Xpand! and M-Tron virtual instruments without problem, neither Reason Adapted nor Ableton Live Lite showed up under my Instrument insert options (or any of the other effects options). They are both on my hard drive, and in up-to-date versions.

How do I get Pro Tools to recognize them?

Thanks for any help.

Hi alexbutterfield

I'm not sure whether this is related, but shouldn't you be running LE 7.1.1?

No, I have a PPC G5, not an Intel Mac. LE 7.1.1 is for Intel-based Macs only.

filosofem,

Just so you know, in the very link you posted to the Support Page, it states 7.1 works on imac G5. It's the Intel imacs that need 7.1.1

As for this problem, could it be possible that maybe you've accidentally upgraded Reason and Live Lite to UB (Universal Binary) versions that were meant for Intel Macs? I'm not sure if that's been a tested problem, but I would suggest looking at the version again and making sure. Otherwise, I'm at a loss right now for you.
