Default Please HELP! Audio Record Volume error message!

I'm running ProTools LE version 6 (free) on my new Powerbook G4 (15") and whenever I go to try and record something, the Workspace window pops up and I get the following error whenever I try and hit the 'R':

"Macintosh HD cannot be designated as an Audio Record volume because it is not a valid audio volume"

I get the same result when I try and designate my external firewire drive (Maxtor 38GB).

Yet when I start up in OS9, I can run and record things in Protools LE, no problems.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I am not using the free version.
But if I unload ProTools with the script somebody here wrote, then the drives are turned into not recordable.

Here's what I do.
Reboot.
Start ProTools DON't open a session.
Open the worspace browser window (I can't remember the exact name)
Change the drives to 'R'

See if that works.

Where did you get a "free" version 6 of PT? I thought there was only a free version of 5.0 that only runs under OS9.

In any case, ALL of your record volumes MUST be reformatted using the OSX disc utility as HFS+ before using PT6 with OSX (even if they were previously formatted as such under OS9).

NOTE: Reformatting will erase all of the data on a volume.
