Hang on startup

I have been working on my system which is based on those suggested here and I'm having a problem getting it up and running. A
On startup just after it tests the PCI configuration the computer hangs. The cursor blinks, but the keyboard refuses to respond. I am at a loss and as far as I know I have the BIOS setup correctly, but obviously I am doing something wrong. Here's my setup:

A7M266
Athlon XP 2000+
IBM 60GXP
Yamaha 3200EZ CDR
Toshiba DVD

I have taken the Promise ATA100 TX2 card out to minimize the variables. Obviously, I haven't even been able to intall the OS yet.

Thanks for the reply JMS40. What ended up being the problem was my BIOS was too old to recognize the Athlon XP 2000. I had to go buy a Duron so I could update my BIOS. For more detail see my other post "A7M266 WARNING".

That's about as far as it will go without an OS installed.
Assuming you have your drives formatted and ready to go, at this point you'll need to boot from a floppy and install your OS.
