Default Questions about using a 2nd computer

Hi, list.
I have an audiomedia II card sitting in an old nubus mac. This mac has a G3 card in it to run system 9.x.

Since the audiomedia card has 24bit dig I/O is there any reason this machine couldn't be used as a softsynth platform or maybe Altiverb to lighten the load of my G4 w/mBox and if it's possible what might be the best way to go about setting it up. Many thanks in advance.
