I can't install Pro Tools 8. Freezes during "installations script"

Hi,

i just tried to install Pro Tools 8 to my macbook three times but i always failed and every time i had to force quit the installation.

I start as i am used to in former version upgrades, but then it freezes during "Pro Tools LE 8" Prepare to install.

First time i waited about an hour.
Second time i waited about 8 hours,
third time 24 hours, but nothing happened.

But wait, something happened: My diskspace decreased during the time of "installing". The third time i tried it went down (during all the hours) from about 20GB to 11GB.

I don't know what to do. Is there any solution?

On my old imac the installation worked fine.

Just a guess, but I'd first repair disk permissions then moving the Digidesign application folder to your desktop.

Then move the folder at Library / Application Support / Digidesign
pull this folder out into a temp folder on the desktop

Now try installing again. If it works then you can either reinstall any 3rd party plug-ins or simply copy them back into your new digidesign plug-ins folder found in
Library / Application Support / Digidesign / Plug-ins
