Poppy,
I think Digi recommends a G4/450 or higher, but I've heard of others using the G4/400 without problems. As far as the drive issue goes, I completely disagree about using IDE drives. They can work and in some cases will work fine, but when you're pushing the system hard... they just don't stack up like a GOOD SCSI drive will. We have (4) TDM systems at Sweetwater and each one is running a high-end large SCSI HD system. We tried IDE on one for kicks and had nothing but problems. Another issue is drive cooling so having them externally is also a help. |

Hi,
I've got a G4 400. Is this adequate for running a HD system? Also should i go SCSI or IDE for storage? I know Digi recommend SCSI but I've read of better results using IDE. If I go IDE how can I get 3 drives into my G4? Thanks for your advice |
