I am presently using 6.0 on my Mac G4 using OS X with no problems at all. It's a sweet little Mix Plus system.
I was thinking of adding some TDM plug-ins to my system but was told that this would cause nothing but problems because it had been so long since I had updated both OS X and Pro Tools 6.0 (It has been nearly three years since my last update -- I really didn't want to mess with a good thing). My questions are as follows: 1. Do I need to update to use plug-ins on the market today? 2. If the answer to question 1 is yes, then should I update 6.0 first and then OS X? Or should I update OS X first and then update 6.0? Finally, are there any "downsides" to updating my system? 3. If the answer to question 1 is no, am I running the risk of finding my system incompatable with other systems when I transport projects? In other words, what are the "downsides" to not updating my system? Your insights and suggestions are greatly appreciated. |
