Correct 2nd drive installation?
OK, I put my second drive in as the slave to my first drive, both on the same IDE channel.
BIOS says it is there as the slave, and Windows says it s there, operating correctly with the correct drivers etc. I have no drive designation for this new drive As in A: B: or C:. I had no prompt to format the new drive, and cannot de frag or anything, it is simply there. IS this drive in the right spot? My other IDE channel has a CD ROM as the primary drive. Also, I didn't get an installation disk with my new drive, unless I lost it which i don't think i did. |

Re: Correct 2nd drive installation?
no drivers are required for hard drives. only the controller requires drivers.
assuming you have your jumper settings correct - if you can't see the drive, its probably not formatted. go into dos mode and do this. if you have partition magic, its even easier...
