Add a Mackie Blackbird via ADAT to HD2
Hi
I've been trying to get my Mackie Onyx Blackbird to work with my HD system. I would love to use the pre's as extra preamps. I've connected the Blackbird with two optical cables Blackbird IN to Avid IO16 OUT and vice versa. I've changed the settings in the Blackbird control pannel to stand alone and clocking to ADAT. I have changed these settings in the Hardware Setup of Pro Tools: Clock Source internal/ Input 9-16 to Optical 1-8 (ADAT). In my I/O setup I have then changed the inputs to Optical 1-8. Still I get no sound from the Blackbord into Pro Tools. Should I use an additional Word Clock cable or should the Blackbird clock fine with the ADAT cable? Should I slave Pro Tools to the Blackbird (I presume this is not a wise option as the clocking of my Avid I/O is probably better)? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! thanks Hans |

Re: Add a Mackie Blackbird via ADAT to HD2
The clock source for the blackbird has to be set to adat. At least that's what the manual says. Your settings in pro tools seems to be okay.

Re: Add a Mackie Blackbird via ADAT to HD2
I do a similar thing with a Presonus DigiMaxLT into my 96I/O for 8 "utility" pres.
Does the Mackie have Word Clock? That's what I use and it works perfectly. Try just one optical from Mackie to HD I/O and the WC cable. PT should be master for sure. Then set the mackie to get its clock from the BNC. |
