Default Canvassing opinions for new monitors (speakers)

My old monitors (AML1s for anyone who cares) are on their last legs and just wondering if anyone has any recommendations before I start the process of hiring, chin scratching, crying, etc.

Have you tried newer PMC's?

ATC are nice sticking with a UK theme

Budget is the primary driver, there are pretty good monitors at all price points now.
