Output Driver/Sound manager
Am I unaware of any developments or is sound manager still unable to use Digidesign hardware for output???
I have the output driver update in there, but e. g. Toast still won't use Digi, even if PT has not been launched? This worked for me in PT 5.0.1. ??? Someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks. |

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
Am I really the only one with a problem with sound manager/Digi sound?
At least, please Digidesign, let me know if it is supposed to work correctly. |

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
-When "Digidesign" is selected for the output in the Sound CP, any audio routed out via Sound Manger should go out ch 1-2 of your primary interface.
-Assuming you are using Mac OS 9.x, you should have the Digidesign CP installed and remove any instances of the Digi Output Drivers extension. Brent |

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
I found the Digi Control Panel a bit inconsistant between my machines/OS's. By chance I installed Digi Output Drivers 1.3, and then audio played through my Digi hardware with no problem...So there's where I sit...

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
Just two weeks ago we went to a new G4/466 with OS 9.1. It works very good with the new Digi control panel and the programs we used over Soundmanager. It never wokrd that good ever before.
Regards Mark

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
Sorry, been very busy. I do have problems. Sometimes, if Digidesign is selected in the Apple Sound Manager, I get a 'Digidesign hardware is either not installed or in use by another application' and ProTools stops booting. When I select Mac for output AND reboot the computer, ProTools boots, but I have Mac sound outputs going.

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
I have the same problem, and DigiTechSupt has yet, as far as I can tell, to address it.
My Sound Control Panel Output has been set to Digidesign for ages with no problems...everything routed through my studio speakers, alert sounds and all, perfectly. All of a sudden today, I get the "Pro Tools Hardware is either not installed or in use by another program" message. After making sure all of my cables and cards are in place, I found that if I set my Sound Output to "Built-in", the problem goes away. The second I set it back to "Digidesign", I can't open Pro Tools and I get that message. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING ALL OF A SUDDEN???!!!

Re: Output Driver/Sound manager
I think I found the solution.
I'm running OS 9.1. Apparently DigiSystem INIT, Direct I/O, and Digidesign Control Panel all need to be updated to version 5.1 in order to be compatible with OS 9.1. I updated all three from the Support--->Downloads section of this site, and all seems to have been fixed. Let's see if it stays that way.....
