Default Dual-800 Quicksilvers are shipping!

My build-to-order Dual 800 Quicksilver shipped from Apple today. I'll have it Thursday. We'll see how badly my transition is!

I've tested the Digi 001 on the Quicksilver 733. It works fine provided OS X is not loaded into the computer at all. Hopefully Digidesign will come up with a version for OS X.

Just make sure enough ram has been allocated. Somehow it doesn't quite run on "min requirement" RAM

FYI, we've been installing TDM systems on the 733 and 867's with no problems. As soon as we get a Dual 800 in, we'll be testing that as well....

Brad,

Are you wiping the hard drive as supplied by Apple on the 867 and re-installing only OS 9.2, or are you installing right on to the factory drive (with X and 9.2 on it)?

The reason I ask is that I've heard reports of installs being lost on drives that have both X and 9.x --

I could simply wipe the drive as it comes, then re-install... is this necessary?

Thanks,

jr

Hi,
Who makes these cards? are they Nvidia G3 chipset? I have a G4 400mhz. AGP, do I need 4x AGP for this card? If so Does my G4 have 4x AGP? I think it might only have 2x, if so what card can I use?

Thanks,
R.J.

Yes Brad
How are you configuring the new G4 to run with TDM?

I do believe my tech guys are wiping the drives clean but I will ask them if they are doing this as a default. On the systems I design and sell, I am instructing them to wipe the drive clean and do a fresh install.

I'm VERY curious about the DUAL 800. I haven't been able to run Protools (24 Mix)on my Dual 533 with both processors on since I got. I get PCI bus errors (-6042). As soon as I disable the second processor, all is fine. This is a MAJOR DRAG since I use Unity DS-1 (which is able to use the second processor) and purchased the Dual machine specifically with the Dual in mind for Unity. Digi has totally ignored the problem, even though they confirmed it. OK now my venting is done, PLEASE let us know if the new Dual will run Protools!

Tim

Amen, Tim. I have a 60% feeling that I will be turning off the second processor as well. But eventually Digi HAS to face up to the fact that alot of us PT users want to use software synths and samplers which access the second processor (not to mention future plug-ins, etc). Digi, let's move forward!
