Default pitchshift in PT6.4

can anybody give me a quick crash course or refer me to any online documentation on how to "stretch audio" or altar the pitch of audio in pro tools 6.4? i'm trying to do this using the pitchshift plugin in the audiosuite, but when i adjust the controls, my audio sounds unaffected. should i be using another piece of software? any suggestions?

all you have to do is highlite the audio you want to work with. get to pitch shift and press the button on the bottom left of the panel. i forgot what the name of the button is but it plays the track. then you move the bars...and when you get a pitch you like just click the other button that transfers it. LOL sorry i dont know the names of the buttons. its just like second nature now i dont even look at them anymore.

While you have the section selected in Audiosuite, are you simply hitting play or are you pressing the Preview button contained within the plug-in window? If you're doing the former, then you will hear the selection unaltered by the plug. Preview will audition the effect for you, and then Process will render a new audio file with the desired effect.
