Default Unable to see DigiReWire plug-in

I have Pro tools Academic 7.3 and Reason 3. Pro Tools cannot see the DigiReWire plug-in. It has worked in the past, but occasionally when I start up Pro Tools, it doesn't see the plug-in suddenly. Sometimes restarting will do it, other times I've replaced the plug-ins folder and it works, but it's really unpredictable. Eventually I got it working regularly. All this was happening on a Powerbook G4 OSX 10.4 through 10.5. It worked in both systems. Now I've got a new iMac 2.8 GHz and I've installed the programs and now no matter what I do it does NOT recognize the DigiReWire plug-in - even though it's there. When I open a Pro Tools document that had Reason connected to it I always get this message:

Track "Inst 1" Insert 1 ("Reason") has been made Inactive because the plug-in is not present in the plug-ins folder

Now it seems I can't do anything to fix it. I've reinstalled everything and tried everything I can think of. What is causing this supremely frustrating condition?

Not sure if this will work but it may be worth a try. Go to the Library/Audio/Plugins/VST. If it is there, copy the Reason plugin and paste it into DigiDesign plugin folder.

Most likely, you need to download and install the Reason 3.0.5 update.

Thank you for the responses. There was not a Reason file in my VST folder, so I couldn't do that. I will upgrade Reason tonight and see if that fixes it.

Even if there were, doing so wouldn't have changed anything.
