Default have a save question for ya

is it ok, to save on the fly, when things are moving, i do it all the time, but wondering if im gonna make it crash as some point.. i use 6.4.1 pro tools mix with mac dual 1.25 1.5gigs or ram. thanks gould

Not really different than autosave, so you should not experience any specific problems from saving on the fly. . . But it is somewhat pointless if you are in the middle of a recording pass. . . you may as well wait until after the pass. There is always less change of irregular behavior if your system is not working hard when saving. The advantage of autosave is you have multiple version of the session file, so if something goes wrong, or you make a bad decision, you can back track. . . I typically set mine to 50 copies and 5 minute intervals. . .

Saving on the fly can be a life saver. I do it all the time and have never had a crash, even when recording.

But just because you press save while recording the region or regions that are being recorded can't be saved until you stop transport so saving after the record pass is much more efficient in my opinion

Yes, and worth noting that autosave doesn't happen when the transport is in motion, or editing is being done! it waits till its stopped then saves, so if you're recording an hour show it will only save at the end of the hour recording!!

only at the end, so theres no way to save it , im doing an audiobook, each chapter goes about 20 min, sometimes he goes with no mistakes. like to think , i could save it somehow without having to stop. Hmmm,
