Default External Effect question

I have a digi 002, and I am using a Lexicon MPX550, and I want to use this as an external effect off of the digi 002. For instance, I have a Microphone plugged into input mic 1, and I have my outputs 3 and 4 going into my unit into the lexicon, and then the outputs of the lexicon going to my 7 and 8 inputs on my Digi 002. How do I set up my sysem to read this. I also have it hooked through SPDIF as well, but I think I have to set the clock to internal, so that would mean that I couldn't have my ADAT interface going on. I had usually ran it through my tub preamp system...Art, and for some reason I am getting interferience with using it, so I am hoping that the preamps on the didi 002 will be better and queiter.

Thank you in advance.

Shawn

I am not sure what you mean by having Pro Tools "read this". If your outboard outputs are returning to 002 inputs 7/8, then you merely need to set up a stereo audio track, set it's inputs to analog 7/8, record enable it, and the returning levels should appear on the tracks meter. If you are going to permanently dedicate inputs 7/8 to the returns from that unit, you can go into the Pro Tools I/O Setup, and name the input paths for 7/8 as the name of the unit (7= Lexicon L, 8= Lexicon R). Then when you toggle through the input drop-down listing on any track, instead of seeing analog in 7/8, you will see what they are hooked up to, which is the Lexicon. Hope that was what you were wondering.

Relative newb here (to pro tools), but what you would want to do is still record your main vocal (dry) on one track, and record the sound of the Lexicon on 2 other tracks at the same time. You could then have control over the levels on mixdown.

I'd assume you'd get some latency doing this though.

cetanorak's post described how to route it in the software

hope this helps
