Installed ATTO Express protools on my MixPlus, it WONT WORK, HELP
we recently purchased a ATTO SCSI Controller for our MACINTOSH G4 400 for
PRO TOOLS MIX PLUS the pro tools is working perfectly without the ATTO, but when we installed the ATTO EPCI-DC, the computer does not wanna start (boot), we tried installing it on our 9600/200, the same thing happened, we also installed the ATTO card to our PC Pentium 500, and still it "HANGS" the computer !! prior to installing the hardware, we carefully read the manual and followed every instructions, but it still did tnot work we also did the following on the G4; we disabled the extension folders and left only the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools 2.2 , and still it did not work we checked all the cables connected to and from the hardware and made sure that its terminated and it seems that everything is in order, and we still cant make it work we are in deep trouble, it took us a month to order the ATTO, and we surely cant lose another month, it will cost us a great deal of money ( on lost clients) We really need your help !! Need your advice Markie Diaz Technical Department Mixsonic Recording Studio Manila, Philippines |

Try turning off the Atto express extension
in the extensions manager and restart holding down the C key. I've heard from a few sources that the Atto pro tools express does not work with that extension turned on. it should work without it. Also, it depends what your connecting to it. for older SCSI drives and Jaz or zip drives try the Adaptec power Domain 2930 card. It works great for me. Slao, try it with the C key. Disconnect any modem or USB floppy from the USB ports also. You can connect them after the computer has loaded everything. Good luck, Alex |

Re: Installed ATTO Express protools on my MixPlus, it WONT WORK, HELP
We had a very similar experience with an ATTO card that came from the factory. The Termination setting was set to "NONE", not "AUTOMATIC, or UPPER-8". The solution is quite simple, buy two active 68 pin terminators, and place them on the internal connectors. If and when the compurter starts up, go to the Express Pro Tools Application and change the termination to "AUTOMATIC" for both channels. ALSO, make sure you update the firmware to 1.5, which resolves a lot of G4 issues.
If the above does not work, leave the card in the computer and hold COMMAND-OPTION-SHIFT-"D" to bypass the ATTO card, (this worked on the G3), and then update the firmware of the card. You will not be able to access the card at this point, (from the Pro Tools Express Application), so re-boot and see if it worked. Good Luck. |
