Default Pro Tools | First unzip error [SOLVED]

Pro Tools | First Version 2021.7.0
Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1, OS build 19043.1237

Watch Avid installation video.
Pro Tools Installation (Windows)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYkBXL8TV-E

I downloaded "Pro_Tools_First_2021.7.0_Win.zip".
I unzipped it using Windows unzip.
Unzip gave an error message about filename error.
See attachment for details.

I downloaded the Zip file twice.
The Zip appears to be defective.

How do I contact Avid about this since you need a product registration number to report an error?
Pro Tools | First does not have a product registration number.
Catch 22 situation.

Thank you for any feedback.

Default Re: Pro Tools | First - Unzip error

You seem to be getting a path is too long error.
Windows has a hard limit on the length of the full path of a file, so if you are trying to unzip the archive to a very nested folder, then you might be hitting this limit.

I would copy the zip file somewhere on your computer that is only one folder deep, like 'C:\temp' for instance. Then try extracting the zip to that same folder.

BTW - I downloaded Pro Tools First 2021.7 from my Avid account to my Windows 10 system and it unzipped just fine, so the archive appears to be fine.

Hopefully that works for you.

Default Re: Pro Tools | First - Unzip error

You nailed it. Nested folders seem to be the issue.
I just happened to use a nested folder that day.
The Windows 10 unzipper may have a bug. Why?
7-Zip properly unzipped the Zip file while Windows 10 gave the error.
The moral of the story is use 7-Zip and less nested folders.

When I unzipped from a more nested folder, the following occurs:
When I extract with the Windows 10 unzipper in the context menu, the "length of the full path" error occurs.
When I extract with 7-Zip in the context menu, the "length of the full path" error does not occur.

When I unzipped from a less nested folder, the following occurs:
When I extract with the Windows 10 unzipper in the context menu, the "length of the full path" error does not occur.
When I extract with 7-Zip in the context menu, the "length of the full path" error does not occur.

Thank you again for solving the problem.
