001 to MBox

Can 001 files be opened/edited using an MBOX?

Quick answer: Yes

Long answer: Since both the 001 and the MBox use ProTools LE as the software, they can read the same documents. If all of the audio is routed to outputs 1/2, everything will come out OK (don't worry about bus tracks, that has nothing to do with your hardware.) If you had a special headphone mix going to outputs 3/4 on your 001, you can not play those tracks unless you reassign them to the available outputs for the MBox. If I'm not mistaken, ProTools will inform you of this conflict when you try to open the file.

But all and all, you can transfer the same session between a 001 and an MBox (or a MIX system and an HD system for that matter.) It's like if we both had Microsoft word, but I had a color printer and you didn't. You could open the same files, you just won't output it the same way.
