MTRX STUDIO and Blue Face 192 i/o
Hi DUC!
Curious what type of compatibility there is between the MTRX Studio and the blue face legacy 192 i/o. If I connect the 192 to the second port with a Legacy to Mini digi-link adapter cable into the MTRX Studio will this work? How does Dante and DADMan factor into this? Anyone have these 2 interfaces working together on an HDX system? Many Thanks! |

Re: MTRX STUDIO and Blue Face 192 i/o
It works in exactly the same way as previous Digidesign/Avid interfaces, with the 192 I/O being passed directly onto HDX and the Pro Tools I/O menu. None of the 192 I/O is accessible through the MTRX Studio and its routing matrix.
Due to the 32 I/O limit of HDX/HDN ports, it usually means nothing but downsides connecting them chained in this way rather than connecting one interface per HDX port.

Re: MTRX STUDIO and Blue Face 192 i/o
This question seems to keep coming up. Just because you have additional Avid or 3rd party interfaces to connect to your HDN or HDX system does not mean that you can connect them to MTRX or MTRX Studio. Although it is technically possible to deploy in Pri/Exp mode - you are effectively neutering your MTRX device turning it into a merely 16 channel audio device. For the vast majority of installs, it is highly recommended to set DADman > Conf > DigiLink > DigiLink mode to Pri/Pri, hook up 1 or 2 ports to your first engine card (HDN, HDX), then start to populate any additional HDX cards with alternate Avid or 3rd Party DigiLink IOs.
In the same conversation, only IO directly attached to the MTRX or MTRX Studio device can be used within the ProMon Monitor Profile construct. You cannot fold in AES inputs that happen to be on an HD IO which is also in your system for example. best, Jeff |

I was definitely confused! I don't think it is explained very well at all in the manuals from either DAD or Avid.
