My friend has the same kind of problem (plus frequent crashes) with the new iMac (spring 2008). Has tried different FW cables, has no unsupported plug-ins etc.

oh yeah, I forgot to mention my plugs - all I have is exactly what came with the 003 factory console + Melodyne plugin

The session that I have been working on most lately has 1 instance of BFD through an aux (maybe I should record BFD's audio to a stereo track and bypass BFD on the aux??) also the session has 1 instance of Maxim over the master channel, also has an instance or two of BF 1176 at least one BF LA2A (i think, if thats what came with this package?) and then various digi rack plugs like comp, gates, de-esser, EQ's (4 band and 1 band) over maybe 80% of the 20-25 tracks.
And last but not least the session has about 3-4 instances of Melodyne plugin for vox - as a side question, does anyone know where the best position in the insert 'tree' to put Melodyne plugin, at the top or at the bottom of the other plugs??.. And how do you make Melodyne Plugin sound like the Celemony demo's, my corrected vocals, although now in tune (not much correction was really needed) still sound grainy when vox channels are soloed - not so noticeable in the context of a mix but with up to 6 vocal tracks leading, backing and harmonizing the grainyness adds up.... any ideas? (I know im getting way off topic here :) ).
