Default Hookup Two Computers to One Mbox2 ?

Hi There,

i have a Macbook Pro and a Power Mac G5 tower. I use the Macbook for my audio work and the G5 for various things such as listening to music. I've got my Pro Tools rig on the Macbook but only the Mbox drivers/preference panes loaded on the G5. I'm trying to hook both computers up to the Mbox2 via Firewire so that I can use my Monitors to work on the laptop but also listen to music on the G5.

All that I have read suggests that the second firewire port is merely a thru port for chaining other devices into, but I wanted to make sure that I had not overlooked something.

So my question is this: Is it possible for the Mbox2 to process audio through both Firewire ports (coming from different computers)

Thanks in advance.

No, and you definitely don't want to try it, unless you're interested in potentially damaging all of your equipment. You can unplug from one computer and and then plug-in to the other, but running 2 firewire cables from different machines simultaneously is just not a good idea.
