could anyone tell me how to set up my transport so it functions like this?
when you play, and then hit stop, the play cursor stays where you stopped if you hit stop again, play cursor returns to where you first played from if you hit play, it plays from where you left off (acting more like a pause) if anyone is familiar with cubase, this is how the transport functions when "automatically return to play position on stop" is turned off. i have pro tools hd 8.0.3 on mac osx 10.6.2 |

Hey, Joey.
I would look at the 'n' key with keyboard focus mode on. (That's the little a..z button on the right hand side of the edit window). This toggle the 'Timeline Insertion Follows Playback' preference, also found in the preferences. There is also a visual button now with PT8 on the upper hand side of the edit window - toggle 'n' a couple of times to see it flash. Reading about this in the manual will help understanding, but when this preference is on, PT will stop the cursor where you stop. With it off, PT will go back to where you started from. I hope that helps. - SR
