Default 2022.4 solo safe aux tracks?

Hi All,

Is this a preference that can be globally disabled?

Not so sure I want this or I would at least would want the global choice. The Folder routing tracks are cool sometimes but I find that there are latency issues on those tracks when you have instantiated plugins on them, so I only tend to use them when I am mixing at the end when I am sure there is no more tracking to be done. When printing stems for export and when doing submixes for vocals, guitars and drums, there are times that I use solo safe but more times that not I dont. Usually there are more aux tracks in my sessions that are not solo safe than are. As cool as this new feature is have have a feeling that i may cause more headaches than alleviate them.

So is there a way to globally disable this feature if i so choose? I'd much rather have it as a preference option i think.

hopefully it is:)

There is not. It is now a global default state to have Aux Tracks Solo safe.

Design oversight? Designers not pro users? Not being able to disable this is ridiculous.

You can disable solo safe manually. Just not globally.

If 70% of users were solo-safe their auxs each time and 30% weren't, then making the default solo-safe is the right decision. (And frankly, pro users usually put aux in solo safe so signal can continue passing when they are soloing upstream audio tracks)

But I'm not against making this an option in preferences with the default being solo safe.

I'm a pro user and I use both. this is a great idea for those who primarily mix only but not for pro user who do a lot of editing and delivering of stems...plus not to make this optional is a bit on the crazy side to me. If the folder tracks were 100% functional then maybe...but they are useless while t tracking. Even when editing a vocal, i'd much rather edit it dry. Now i have to manually disable solo safe on the reverb track, delays, doublers and whatever else fx might be going on. it's more work for sure. Just not well thought out

You could just group your FX aux tracks and mute. No need to change the solo state.

for sure there are ways to get around this...but thye should not limit flexibility. imagine if dark mode or hybrid mode were now global defaults and you could not revert back...that would completely suck. these changes dont work for everyone

I cannot think of any reasons why this default would be a problem to anyone. Who needs the Auxes to not be solo safe? Can anyone give me a possible scenario? Pro or not pro. The previous routine for decades was to open an aux track and go to solo safe it. Now it’s one less step.

1. editing vocals without hearing associated fx sends
2. recording and editing guitar stems that use fx sends
3. recording and blending bv stacks of 20+ without associated delay, verb and modulation fx's so that you can check for accurracy and balance.

I can keep going... sometimes I want solo safe and majority of times i dont. If i am just mixing and all of this other work is done then i get it but if I am editing or in in mid stream of a mix and need to do some fixes this is a pain in the arse...

Exactly. Dark mode was unusable for me until the options happened. Now, my edited preferences make it usable.
