Default record to internal drive

Hi,

I have a new setup with a Powerbook an FW 410. Although I have an external USB-drive, I will often have to record to my internal drive for portability-reasons.
I am wondering if I should make a separate audio-partition on my internal harddrive, and what would be the best way to go about that.
Does anyone have experience with this ?

Thanks a lot ! Dennis

you can record to the system drive without partitioning with limited success.

in my experience, make sure you do not record so much that you get over 80% full. very dangerous after that, puts a real strain on the system, especially if you are making lots of edits. sounds like you are just recording though.

you can upgrade to a 7200rpm internal drive and i found that that made a big difference in performance all round.

Thanks a lot Paul, I´ll see how it goes with my current drive and consider a faster drive if necessary. greetings,Dennis
