Default Lagging / Spinning Wheel upon Upgrade

Hey folks. Anybody have any fixes for this issue?

PT 2021 seems like a great update, but as soon as I downloaded the new version, I've been getting 3-6 second lags and a spinning wheel while I'm working. No crashes or any performance issues beyond that, but it certainly gets in the way of my work flow as I've been getting at least 3 of these every minute....quite annoying. Those seconds really add up.

Another producer friend of mine has the same issue, so we upgraded our OS to Big Sur since we thought that may be the fix, since no one else on the internet seems to be having this problem with PT 2021, but that didn't fix the problem. Anyway, would love to figure out how to get past this!

Actually many people on this forum have reported these problems since 2021.6 was released. Almost all reports are on MacOS and not on Windows 10. The problem seems more prevalent in Big Sur but does exist in Catalina. The problem is especially exhibited on M1 based Macs. Many have reverted to Protools 2021.3.1 even though this version is not certified for Big Sur but it yields smooth UI performance. That seems to be the best solution for now, but you don't get all the nice new features and hybrid engine, increased track count, increased I/O, side chain delay compensation, fixed tab to transient, etc.

Same problem, but I am on Catalina and a 2017 iMac. I just opened a ticket with Avid Support. Hope it is fixed soon, the only issue I have with an otherwise great release.
