I am not going to argue what you hear or not.

But whoever I have ever made monitor mixes (myself included) 512 is not acceptable in any way (talking about 48k session) and 256 is okay. If they complain I pause playback and say I changed it without actually changing, and it is suddenly okay. If they complain again I switch to 128 and never get complaints after that.

But I also do not know any celebrity that drives a Fiat if they can afford a Ferrari.

i gotta say for someone who is supposed to be a 'moderator' you're kind of aggro. Maybe you don't mean it but you really come across kind of condescending. I posted a simple request and your response is to basically tell me what an idiot i am.

Sorry if you feel that way, that however was not my intention. Pardon me for not having English as first language.

Don’t know what that is supposed to mean? And i know you dont know any celebs anyway (outside of finland) so what do you mean with this comment?

And believe me, with artists (not your hobby recordings) we can’t just say we do a change and not do it, these people aren’t dumbazzez but you wouldn’t know that.

Meaning if you have top of the line computer that can do ten sessions simultaneously then why not, but still good enough is good enough. I am not calling millionaire artists dumbasses, but a lot of latency talk is psychological. Once you say you fixed it and try again most often the problem suddenly disappears. If not, there is a real problem and you can fix it again.

Ok then … Enlighten us what artists you worked with that anyone here have heard of that fell for your ”i changed the buffer size” scam i really wanna know! If we did this we wiuld have NO JOB in this industry

And again LATENCY is a percieved occurance and not psychological if you know what you are doing!

Let us stop here bro, it is just the same when you pour two glasses of water from tap and give one to the artist. He or she asks for a colder one, you bring the other one that is just as warm. Suddenly that is okay.

Obviously consuming double the resources, which is exactly the opposite of what hardware insert is trying to do.
You can (artificially) delay the bypassed insert by the same amount as the actual insert. Just like how plugins are still delayed and correctly compensated when bypassed. No engine screwups or anything. Deactivate the insert to remove the delay, just like plugins.

Should be doable. Might take Avid a year or ten.
